System Requirements

Before installing AppProfileSafe, verify that your environment meets the following requirements.

Supported Operating Systems

Windows 10	Version 1809 or later (64-bit)
Windows 11	All versions (64-bit)
Windows Server	2016, 2019, 2022, or later

AppProfileSafe is a 64-bit application and does not run on 32-bit operating systems.

Permissions

Operation	Required Privileges
Export (Backup)	Read access to source registry keys and files. Administrator recommended for full access.
Import (Restore)	Administrator privileges required (registry writes, file system ACLs, restore points)
System Restore Point	Administrator privileges required
CLI operations	Run from an elevated command prompt or scheduled task with admin rights

Disk Space

Component	Space Required
Application files	~50 MB
Logs, audit, reports	~100 MB (depends on retention settings)
Backup data	Varies — depends on the size of exported registry entries and files

AppProfileSafe performs a preflight disk space check before export and import operations to prevent failures due to insufficient space.

Network Requirements

Network connectivity is not required for basic backup and restore operations. However, the following features require network access:

UNC network share backup/restore	SMB access to the target share. See Working with UNC Paths.
SIEM forwarding	TCP/UDP/HTTP(S) access to the SIEM endpoint. See Configuring SIEM.
Webhook notifications	HTTPS access to webhook endpoints. See Configuring Webhooks.
Support portal reachability check	HTTPS access to support.appprofilesafe.com (Dashboard status tile only)

If your environment uses a proxy server, ensure that the relevant endpoints are reachable. AppProfileSafe uses the system proxy settings configured in Windows.
